Wheeler Opera House

Aspen, CO

Along with our restoration division, SDS worked to bring this historic opera house in Aspen to its formal glory, impeccably carving the Wyoming sandstone replacement pieces to match the originals. The original sandstone from 1889 was tested to determine its exact composition, allowing SDS to locate a quarry that was able to supply a nearly identical match in composition and color.

Considered a historic Colorado landmark, this unique structure combines a Romanesque revival with Italian architectural styles.
