How it Started
From the start of founder Frank Swanson’s artistic career in the 1960’s, he always strived to incorporate in his designs the marriage of technology and classic stone carving techniques. During this journey, Swanson Stone was created in 1983. He created innovations on existing machinery that allowed him to venture into some unique areas of expression. The style that he evolved over the years melds new technology and ancient material, creating dynamic pieces with precision and quality that will last for hundreds of years.
Becoming Summit
With a combined 59 years of innovation in the industry, we begin a new chapter of SDS, bringing Summit’s new construction and historic restoration expertise to the esteemed stone fabrication legacy.
Frank Swanson’s former apprentice, now master carver, Stephen Edwards heads up the facility to date, melding the traditional methods with his own modern approach.
With the ability to see projects from the design process all the way through to installation, Summit provides their high quality standards to the designer stone world with a focus on faithful replication, a deep reverence for utilitarian art, and a promise to add the immense value of stone carving to any project.
